Born and raised in a large family based in Thunder Bay, Jon has always had a love for outdoor activities, nature, and connecting with people. During high school, these attributes set him on a path of exploring post-secondary options with a simple checklist: to learn about the human body and to help people. Having suffered a significant back injury during this time, he was encouraged by his mother to see her manual therapist, Jacqueline Spring, a student of the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy (CAO). Having never heard of the word “Osteopathy” before, he was skeptical, however this skepticism was short lived. Jon was quickly drawn to its philosophy and hands-on approach. Experiencing the benefits firsthand solidified his decision to pursue the profession.
Jon worked various trade and labour jobs prior to and during his schooling at the CAO. His experience in these jobs developed his practical understanding of mechanics, and the relation between structure and function. This work experience also gave him an appreciation for fine details and effective results. During his extensive education at the CAO, the understanding of these principles were further developed and honed towards the application of manual therapeutic treatment. Having obtained his Master in Practice of Osteopathic Manipulative Sciences (M.OMSc) from the CAO in 2025, he is eager to bring his Osteopathic skillset to serve the community he grew up in.
In his off time, Jon will often be found outside, likely hiking, fishing, camping, swimming, or by a bonfire.
